We paid our friendly postman to distribute 2500 of our Home Catering flyers in Taman Botanic 2 weeks ago. The result? Our customer base grew to exceed our target of 45. The calls have still not stopped, which would mean that we will probably reach about 50 customers by the start of July. That's pretty good for a small Mom & Pop operation.
That's also why we've been up to our eyeballs in chicken, veggie and gravy this past two weeks. The increase workload has meant we needed to increase productivity (read that "work like mad"). When I said we had to work at a blistering pace, I meant it literally. While working the deep fryer 2 days ago, I made a boo-boo and ended up with hot oil splattering on my right hand. The painful result? Blisters - all five of them. Ouch. Ouch. They smart.

Now, not only do the blisters hurt, they make typing pretty darn uncomfortable. It's okay though. Picture below is batch one of the meals packed in tiffins ready for delivery.

Takes me approximately 90 minutes to complete my route, depending on traffic and whether there are any blind or little old ladies driving at 5 kmph in front of me! We've come to the point where we must consider taking on hired help. Keeping at this pace with just my wife and I is NOT my idea of a good time. The money's good though.

"We’ve come to the point where we must consider taking on hired help." I like this statement. I've also come to a point in my ebay and online biz that i feel so stress doing things myself.
juggling ebaying & blogging aint easy. but then, we always have to prioritize.
The reason we're holding back on the hired help is that it adds to our overhead.
Yes, I can dig what you're saying Jenny. You and I are only juggling 2 cash cows each but thems reaaaally heavy cows (I mean we're talking about lembu berat man).
What we're doing is channelling our online income into other passive revenue generation. Will take some time but we'll get there. Wish we had started when we were as young as you though.
Oh by the way... there are very few sites that I go to and feel immediately at home. Yours was one of them ; - )
