What I Love And Loathe About Malaysia

Malaysia is 50 years old. Right now, I can't imagine living anywhere else in the world. Here's 10 random things I love and loathe about this beautiful land called Malaysia not in any particular order.

  1. Definitely LOVE the food. I love that despite all our differences, if there's one thing that ALL malaysian understand, it's food. So wouldn't you know it... food comes first.
  2. I Love Manglish. I love being able to say "Haiya... wa ka lu kong gua chaya sama lu lah" and the other person would know I'm not trying to piss him off.
  3. I Love Trees. Have you driven on our highways after the rain and noticed how beautiful our trees are?
  4. I Love Peace. It's something we take for granted.
  5. I Like Our Government. It's far from perfect, but take a look at the mirror... that's why it's imperfect.
  6. I Love That We're Color Blind. Seriously, we're all the same inside...
  7. I Hate Malaysian Motorists. Enough said. Everybody knows what it's like.
  8. I Hate Malaysian Toilets. Start now... teach your children HOW to use the loo.
  9. I Hate Dirty Drainside Eateries. Urrrrgh...
  10. I Hate Spitters and Smokers. HhhhorrrrrggggghTooooi. They should ban that sound. And we should be allowed by law to pour a bucket of water on anyone smoking in a no-smoking zone.

Many more on my list, but what I do know is this is a beautiful, wonderful country and we all have a part to play in making sure it stays that way for the next 50 years and beyond.

Happy Merdeka!
