Malaysia blocks online scam sites

Malaysia has decided to block 6 websites for allegedly operating scams. This was reported in the STAR today. The six websites blocked are :

  1. www.abbfund.com or www.abfund.us,
  2. www.cfdventure.com
  3. www.swedenfund.com
  4. www.uebond.com
  5. www.esuissefund.com or www.efmf.com.pa
  6. www.ecashfinance.com.

Reports state that many people have fallen victim to these scams and lost amounts ranging from a few hundred to thousands of dollars. The overall total lost to these scams is believed to be in the region of millions.

In my next post, I'll talk about online scams, why it's so easy to fall prey to these scams and how to tell if a money making venture is actually a scam.

Hi Andrew. I cam across an ad in asiaparttime.com regarding home typist. The company is autumnparadise.teach-nology.com and the contact person is Norhazlin Ibrahim. She requires a refundable deposit of RM 50.00 and then she will send you work and once your earnings reach RM 100.00, then the deposit will be refunded. The deposit is because she has been left stranded by people who have abandoned the job given to them. Is this a scam. Pls help.

Sorry for the late reply Mandy... I was away on a family trip.
Let's put it this way Mandy... knowing what I know now, I would NOT give one sen to this person. Home typing scams are the most common. They prey on people who desperately need a side income source to supplement their salary or people who are jobless, unable to work etc. Do yourself a favor and use the RM50 to buy yourself a nice meal or a dress or give it to charity or even better, buy a book on how to start a website at MPH or Popular.
