Kontera Sent My Check To The Wrong Country

Well I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. I was supposed to receive my first check from Kontera in June. After a long wait, I decided to email them. It still took 3 emails before they replied. They replied that they had sent the check on July 2 and they repeated the address. They missed an "S" in the second line, but the big boo-boo was the country - instead of Malaysia, my check is lying in a dead-address box in some post office in Senegal!

Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking... I "could" have selected the wrong country when entering my personal information, but I've never, ever done that - especially when I know that my payments depend on giving the correct information. Besides, if the wrong country was an option starting with "M" like Macau or Malawi, that would possibly mean I made an error but come on, SENEGAL????

I like Kontera as a revenue generator. Their ads complement the existing Adsense blocks, especially when Adsense gets their targetting wrong and spews out irrelevant ads. However, Kontera still has a long way to go to become customer friendly :

  • They earnings reporting is 2 days behind. I can't get up-to the hour stats.
  • They don't have a section where you can check your mailing address.
  • They don't allow you to specify your payment threshold from the publisher interface.
  • Their publisher interface is really primitive - lacking in features.
  • They still rely on email to make the changes I mentioned.

So it looks like I won't be seeing my first Kontera check anytime soon. I've emailed them. Let's see what their response time is like!

so, what did they reply you? will they send you another check?

  • Andrew says:

I think they employ tortoises to read their email. Seems to take forever to get them to reply. Kontera brings in good money, but their user admin is really lacking. It's a good thing I don't rely on it!
