Kontera Paying For Our Room At Genting

No, Kontera isn't offering free stay's at Genting. I'll tell you how Kontera fits into the picture later. Jenny's recent post about gearing up for the big shopping rush on eBay before Christmas reminded me to get my plans in order too. Every year, we run into the same problems getting a room for our yearly adventure in Genting Highlands because yours truly likes to put things off till it's too late. So this year, I booked our room for 3 nights in December 4 months early. In fact, I just made the booking two days ago.

Okay, so what's Kontera got to do with our stay in Genting this December? Well Kontera somehow screwed up my mailing address last month and my check found its way to Senegal. After a 3 week wait, a new check arrived yesterday. Whoopee. I've just banked in the check, so the money should be in in about 4 weeks times. It will just about cover the cost of 3 nights in a World Club room in the First World Hotel.

In all the hustle and bustle of my daily chores, I forgot about this Kontera check, so when it arrived, it was quite a pleasant surprise. I like receiving checks like these.

Great! Andrew, wish i'd be going for vacation too. waiting for my phuket trip, hope things will go well

    • Andrew says:

Good to spend time with family on holiday. No work. No worries. Of all the places we could go, we always end up in Genting coz the kids love watching Papa squirm on some of the rides (I'm afraid of heights).

    Hi Andrew, congrats!
may i asked how much is the bank charging you for the oversea cheque?

    • Andrew says:

      Hi Jean...
Total charges per overseas check is approx RM70. That's RM25 charge here in Malaysia and USD10 in the US. This is why I opt for a minimum of USD200 payout threshold wherever possible. For Adsense, I accumulate up to 3 months revenue before I release the payment holding. Doesn't make sense to pay RM70 every month for bank charges per check.

btw... love your blog. Makes me hungry... which is practically always!

I assume you are using MayBank?

Try CIMB, it's much-much cheaper for only RM10.15 per check!

      • Andrew says:

Heh...yeah Gaman... I know many banks charge less than Maybank, but everything is connected to Maybank for me so I probably won't change. I think that's either called loyalty .... or stupidity.

hmm... World Club room in the First World Hotel looks nice wo. but never have a chance to stay there, is it good??

I bank in my adsense check in Hong Leong Bank, they only charge RM15 nia. consider them next time?

    • Andrew says:

Don't know what is your level of "Good"... heh . For me, "Good" is comfortable, everything works and with a good view. For my kids, "Good" is enough room to jump around. Oh and yes... must have long bath so they can play bubbles.

I'd prefer to chill in Genting Hotel or Highlands Hotel, but First World is right smack in the middle of the Indoor Theme Park. When my kaki tak boled jalan already, can just quickly take the lift back to the room to tidur.

Don't have an account in Hong Leong. EVERYTHING's connected to my Maybank account. How long does yous take to clear? Mines about 4 weeks.

I am enjoying the revenue from Kontera as well. It is simple to instal and they appear in the text. I just wish so many didn't show in a single post. It can be quite obtrusive.

    • Andrew says:

You're right Debo Hobo... they can be a wee bit obtrusive especially when they appear in the most unlikely of places. I'm sure you're aware of the methods available to you to control the number of Kontera links that appear, but for the benefit of other newbies I have a post coming up that will discuss these methods.
