This is MY home on the web, where I hang loose, speak my mind, share what I’ve learnt with you and maybe make a buck or two. Okay, I don’t hang loose in the “cool” sense. I’m way past my thirties, about twenty pounds overweight but (like Paul Simon said in his song) - “Still crazy after all these years”. But I do speak my mind and I DO make more than a buck or two with my websites.

Almost five years ago, like billions of other Dads, I was working my fingers to the bone, trying to keep my family afloat on a shrinking salary and rising cost of living. When my former company began to spring financial leaks and the ship was sinking, my wife and I put our heads together for a couple of powerful pow-wow sessions. We decided the best course of action for us would be to break free of the rat race and build a business we could call our own. So here we are 5 years later, running our very own small but successful home based catering biz. She’s the chef extraodinaire and I’m the everything-else-guy. Where I was once a whiz at the computer keyboard, I’m a kung-fu-heee-yah expert at gutting and cleaning fish, chicken, meat, slicing, dicing and any other ‘cing.

I don’t just make money with my catering biz. We also figured that it would be a smart thing to diversify. We learnt the hard way that if you depend only on your salary and that tap runs dry, you’ll be swimming in debt. So I used all the experience I had garnered from over 10 years as a Senior Web and Multimedia Developer and started to build websites. This time, the websites weren’t for a company or someone else so they could make money. This time, it was all about making money for my family and ME!

So am I enjoying a laid-back life now that I’m my own boss? Heck NO! I’m working longer and harder now and my hair is beginning to grey in ways I never imagined! But I do get to enjoy priceless little perks - like taking my kids to and from school, tucking them in for their afternoon nap, stealing a short snooze after lunch and waking my kids up from their nap to have a wild, noisy pillow fight - all the stuff I dreamt about doing while I was stuck in an office for well over 20 years.

I’ve learnt much in these five years working from home. I never imagined the amount of stuff I had to deal with and learn to make money online and offline. So, that’s what HomeWithAndrew.com is all about - life as a Work-at-home Dad and making money from home ON YOUR OWN TERMS. It’s about learning to to be your own boss, to make money for yourself, not someone else, and still have the time to enjoy the things that matter in life.
